KOTA BAHARU, Dec 23 (Bernama) — Kelantan PAS may reject candidates from outside the state from contesting in the next general election, its commissioner Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said.
The PAS spiritual leader said Kelantan PAS would conduct a review and decide whether it would accept outside leaders to contest for seats.
“If we feel that Kelantan does not need outsiders, we can nominate state leaders to contest,” he said when commenting a statement by Kelantan PAS Dewan Ulama chief Datuk Mohamad Daud Iraqi that only state leaders be nominated as candidates.
In the 2008 general election, Kelantan PAS nominated several outsiders as candidates. They include deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa (Parliament-Bachok), vice-president Salahuddin Ayub (Parliament-Kubang Kerian) and treasurer Dr Hatta Ramli (Parliament-Kuala Krai).
The Kelantan Menteri Besar said there were no insiders or outsiders in politics and that the matter would be considered by the party.
On the resignation of Kelantan PAS youth information chief Dr Rosli Allani Abdul Kadir, he said it was up to him as it was a personal matter.
Dr Rosli quit all party posts after the Syariah Court ordered him to temporarily live separately from his second wife.
On his son-in-law Abd Ariffahmi Abdul Rahman who was asked to resign as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kelantan Menteri Besar Incorporated, Nik Aziz said PAS and its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had made a decision and that the matter was closed.
